Werewolf

 

Werewolf is a human that can shape shift into a wolf if triggered by a full moon, feeling strong emotions or by a curse being placed on the human. A number of countries have myths about werewolves, but they are prominently found in European mythology and especially in Slavic mythology. 

They are known for their violent attacks on people. These violent attacks are caused because werewolves show the most wild side of human nature. Another name for werewolves are lycanthrope.

When a human changes into a Werewolf they will have fur, fangs, claws and glowing eyes. When they have changed it is very hard to calm them down and they will cause a huge amount of violence to others that have upset them or that are near them at the time of transformation.

In ancient believes like Greek and Roman writers like Petronius and Ovid wrote about them and their strengths and damage they could cause. In medieval Europe believes about werewolves grow alongside the believes in witchcraft and sorcery and divine punishment. 

Their one weakness is silver. Silver can seriously hurt them and even kill them.

There is a strong connection between werewolves and sexuality. They often represents forbidden desires and uncontrollable urges. The man that turns into an untamed wolf in the bed and devour the lady in the bed. There is a link here with this a the story of little red riding hood. It the original story the wolf and little red riding hood has sex and the wolf takes her virginity.

Werewolves have become more popular in modern cultures due to the Twilight Saga books and films and also Micheal Jackson made werewolves popular when he turned into one in the Thriller music video.
