Kraken
The kraken is a huge and aggressive sea monster that comes from both Greek and Scandinavian mythology. The word “Krake”, which is believed to has developed to the word Kraken refers to a twisted and unhealthy creature. The Kraken has endless endurance to match its strength. In addition to tentacles it is armed with a gaping mouth full of many sharp teeth. The Kraken many tentacles allow it to reach great speeds and no ships can match it for speed.
In Scandinavian mythology The Kraken lives in the depths of the North Atlantic ocean and between the waters of Norway, Iceland and Greenland. However it does surface from time to time and if ships are not careful it will use its huge size and wrap its mile long tentacles around the ship and drag it down to Davy Jones’ locker where the ship and sailors will never be seen again.
The Kraken has a connection to the god of the sea, Loki, who is known for his mischief and trickery nature. Loki lets the kraken attack ships for his pleasure and amusement. Loki watches as the Kraken devours anything in its path and laughs while doing it.
In Greek mythology the Kraken was born from the titans Oceanus and Ceto. after the father of the gods, Zeus and the gods battled their monstrous brothers the Titans, almost all the titans were defeated. However one on the titans that survived this battle was mighty titan of the sea, the Kraken. After the war, the Kraken was forced to serve the gods, fulfilling their every command, especially to the Greek God of the sea Poseidon. The Gods then send the Kraken to destroy the city of Argos by producing a huge wave to destroy the city, to punish the people of Argos for not honouring the Gods.
However after this the Kraken got out of control and stopped listening to the Gods and started attacking everyone. So Zeus then send Hades to lock the Kraken up so he could not harm people anymore. The Kraken broke free and then Perseus took Medusa’s head to the Kraken and forced the Kraken to look at her and then he froze into stone and the people were safe from that day forward.
The Kraken has inspired many artists, writers, and filmmakers, who have portrayed the creature in various forms and contexts. The Kraken has appeared in poems, novels, movies, video games, and even in popular culture, such as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The Kraken remains a fascinating and fearsome symbol of the unknown and the dangerous, a creature that can challenge the bravest of heroes and the strongest of ships.
