Erotic Art London

Erotic Art London

From Thursday 4th September till Sunday 7th September Erotic Art London is coming. So let us find out all there is about this amazing event.

Q. Hello Erotic Art London. Thank you for doing this interview. So could you let our readers know what Erotic Art London is all about?

A. Erotic art London is the place to go if you are an erotic artist or art lover. We are an annual event, taking some of the worlds best erotic artworks to London for a four-day exhibition. Our event is both an exhibition and festival of erotic arts, as over the four days we host a variety of workshops, presentations, socials, and evening performances, alongside this we also have a market where you can find handmade erotic goods from artists and creatives.

This year we have around 80 visual artists, 20 performance artists, and 20 different market stall holders. Each day is different and you can find out what is happening each day from our program.

Q. How did the concept of Erotic Art London come about and how long have you been running this event?

A. So, I personally took of EAL in May, so I do not have any exact details of how the concept came about. I know that one of the reasons it came about is due to the need for an event like this, to give artists who may not have the opportunity to display work at other events due to either censorship or judgement an opportunity to showcase their work in an encouraging environment. We want to give artists a platform of free expression absent of judgement and censorship.

Q. You will be having evening entertainment. What will this involve?

A. We have a wide variety of evening entertainment this year. On the Thursday, you can expect ambient harp performances, burlesque, drag and more. Friday we have comedy, dance, shibari, burlesque, performance art and some interactive roaming performances which the audience can participate in. Saturday is our final day with evening entertainment, and you can expect more dance, performance art pieces, burlesque, vintage music, aerial, and more roaming interactive performances. So plenty happening each day!

Q. You are also hosting a number of workshop. Could you let us know a little about them?

A. We have a good variety of workshops and presentations, some of which are artist based, so we have our artist talks, kinky life drawing and even smutty writing workshops. These are great for those beginning their art journey or those who are well established artists. We are also hosting workshops on strip tease, and burlesque this year with some very talented teachers. I have a background in doing kink education, so I wanted to bring that to this years event, so we have multiple beginners rope workshops running accords Friday and Saturday, including a peer learning rope session on the Sunday, and a hair play workshop on the Friday. All the educational workshops are designed for beginners so no experience is required to get involved.

Q. What are your main aims with Erotic Art London?

A. Our big main goal is to celebrate erotic art, and create a welcoming environment free from judgement that allows people to express themselves. We want to give artists a platform to promote and show their works, and also allow them to grow and develop as creatives.

Starting this year, we also have aims for our events to be accessible, so we do not want to reduce barriers for entering the event, which includes ensuring we have accessible ticket prices (so we introduced our solidarity tickets, allowing people to get EAL tickets for a fraction of the cost, so those experiencing financial hardship do not miss out). This years venue is also step free and has a disabled toilet as we do not want the venue to be a barrier for people.

We have lots of other ideas and plans for where EAL will go in the future, which we will announce in time.

Thank you so much Erotic Art London for taking the time to explain everything.
